Description

Taxus yunnanensis is the species of the genus Taxus within the family Taxaceae, an evergreen tree commonly knwon as Hongdoushan, and grown mainly in Yunnan Province of China. T. yunnanensis turned into a concentration of research due to its high substance of Taxol (generic name paclitaxel). Other than paclitaxel, numerous different taxoids such as 10-deacetylbaccatin III (10-DAB III), baccatin III (BAC-III), cephalomannine, taxinine M, 10-deacetyltaxol (10-DAT), and 5-epi-canadensene have been recognized and isolated from T. yunnanensis. Paclitaxel alongside semi-synthetic drugs from precursor BAC-III and 10-DAB III has been used for the treatment of many cancer including breast cancer, ovarian carcinomas, skin cancer, and non-small-cell lung cancer.
