Description

Glycyrrhiza glabra is one of official species used as licorice stipulated in the Chinese Pharmacopoeia. Its functions of relieving cough, nourishing qi, tonifying spleen and stomach, alleviating pain, and eliminating phlegm are widely used in traditional Chinese formulae. Modern pharmacological researches demonstrate that licorice possesses antitumor, anti-inflammatory, antivira, antimicrobial, immunoregulatory, and many other pharmacological activities.
